Bubion is one of three mountain villages of the Barranco poqueira (the other two being Pampanera and Capileira) and it is the second of the three you come to when driving up from Orgiva.   Ironically this is the quietest village of the three, but perhaps the nicest.  It has various craft shops selling the locally produced rugs as well as other items and lots of bars and restaurants.   If you find somewhere to park the car and wander around on foot you will find enchanting winding streets with hidden away houses, bars and archways and stunning views across the valley.   It is a fairly quiet village except towards the end of August when the annual fiesta takes over and there is much drinking and dancing and celebration.

If you feel energetic enough the walk to Pampaneira from Bubion is one of the loveliest walks around and it is an old Roman route. It only takes about 30 minutes going down and a bit longer coming up. Just go down by the side of the church and you will see signs saying Camino Pampaneira.

You can do the same walk up to Capileira though it is not as nice. Bubion, Pampaneira and Capileira are all on the route PR-70 known as Sendero Pueblo de Poqueira.
