From Portugos (1303m) to the the area Recreativa Rio Bermejo.and waterfalls- Barranco del Tajo Cortés, en Pórtugos
( approx one hour)
Leave your car in the main square in Portugos and walk towards the church till you see the sign “Rio Bermejo 250 meters. Follow the path through some fields and eventually you get to the park. Keep walking upwards till you reach the parking of the Area Recreativa Rio Bermejo and BBQ area below the camino forestal. The waterfalls are on your left. Take care going down as it could be very slippery.
If you like not to walk all the way then the second alternative is from the middle of Portugos ( opposite the bar), keep driving on trhe dirt road for some 20 minutes till you join the camino forestall on the top. Turn left towards Capiliera and keep driving for another 10 minutes till you are on a bridge. The area of Recreativa de Tajo Cortes is some 100 yards before the bridge and sign posted. Drive down and park.
If you then continue on this road you will come out in Capileira.
